Doylestown Woman Tragically Killed by Drunk Driver
Last Wednesday March 22nd, a man was driving on West State Street, in Doylestown, PA, when he was allegedly involved in a minor crash. The man, whose name has not been disclosed by police, then attempted to leave the scene of the accident. The other driver then began following the fleeing motorist, pursuing him all the way to Sandy Ridge Road, between Iron Hill Road and Business Route 202, when the fleeing driver moved into oncoming traffic in order to pass a car and struck and killed a 68-year-old Doylestown woman.
Police believe the woman was returning from grocery shopping when she was tragically killed by the reckless driver. According to Bucks County District’s Chief of Homicide by Vehicle division Robert James, the suspect was taken to Doylestown Hospital, then later flown to Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. The man is suspected of , hence the involvement of homicide by vehicle officials.
The police also stated that the man involved in the original crash stopped to assist, and remained at the scene until emergency services arrived, giving a detailed account of everything that had occurred. A fire crew from the Doylestown Fire Co. as well as state police helicopters assisted on the scene.
