Pennsylvania Teen Critically Injured in West Philly Car Accident

One person sustained critical injuries in a violent collision on a roadway in the Wynnefield Heights section of West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The car accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the 3900 block of City Avenue in the River Park area of West Philly, PA. A 2015 Ford Fusion was reportedly traveling at a very high rate of speed on City Avenue. As the driver of the Fusion approached the Schuylkill Expressway on-ramp, he moved too close to a 2000 Honda Accord. The Ford Fusion vehicle then crashed into the back of the Accord that was traveling in the same direction on the road and also headed toward the highway on-ramp.

The force of collision caused the Fusion to crash into a guardrail on the on-ramp. The vehicle then spun out of control before finally coming to a stop in the middle of the roadway. Meanwhile, the Accord was knocked off the road.

The driver of the Ford Fusion was a 29-year-old man from Philadelphia, while the Honda Accord was reportedly driven by an 18-year-old Pennsylvania man.

The driver of the Accord suffered multiple injuries as a result of the collision, including lacerations across his face and severe abdominal pain.

The most significant physical injuries were sustained by a 17-year-old passenger in the backseat of the Honda Accord. He reportedly sustained traumatic head injuries in the car crash. Emergency medical responders briefly treated him at the scene of the accident and then transported him to Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. He received medical treatment at the hospital and was later listed in critical condition.

There were three other passengers in the Accord who suffered minor injuries, including neck back, back pain, and cuts on their faces. The injured passengers, all of whom were 17 years old, were treated for their accident-related injuries at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in the University City section of West Philadelphia.

Law enforcement is currently investigating the accident and attempting to determine who may have been at fault for the collision. At this time, police have not yet filed any charges in connection with the car accident. Authorities believe that the driver of the Fusion have been intoxicated at the time of the crash, so it is very possible that charges for Driving Under the Influence will be forthcoming.
