Doylestown Couple Identified as Victims in Bucks County Fatal Car Crash

A married couple from Doylestown was recently identified as those tragically killed in a fatal car accident that occurred in Bucks County recently.

The car accident occurred just prior to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8th on Route 202 in the vicinity of Sugan Road in Solebury Township, Bucks County. Pennsylvania State Police arrived at the scene to find two deceased and another who was immediately transported to an emergency medical center.

The vehicles involved in the accident were a Nissan SUV and a Volvo station wagon, which officials say engaged in a head-on collision. The couple that was killed in the crash was traveling in the Volvo and subsequently identified as Doylestown residents Jane and Ian McNeill. The man in the Nissan was transported via medivac to receive medical care.

Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash to determine the trajectory of events, potential causes, and if one of the drivers was at-fault. Ultimately, if investigators determine a responsible party, the McNeill’s surviving family members may have grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit on their behalf.

It is important to note that for a wrongful death claim, responsibility need not necessarily be placed with the other driver, but can be identified among any party other than the deceased. For example, the vehicle designer or manufacturer may have produced a defective product, a mechanic or auto body shop may have performed negligent repairs, a construction company may have failed to perform necessary maintenance on a roadway, or a government agency failed to provide adequate signage or other mechanisms that are necessary to ensure driver safety.

Regardless of the circumstances of the specific case, it is also important to bear in mind that Pennsylvania enforces a two-year statute of limitations within which a person can file a lawsuit pursuing financial compensation for their injuries or the death of a loved one following an accident, whether it involves an automobile, motorcycle, workplace incident, or other event.
